The website aims to familiarize those interested with the history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and Silesia, as well as the history in general. The "portraits" section contains photographs of graphic portraits of historical figures, the most numerous of which are images of Polish kings. The following sections contain documents (letters signed by rulers), city views and plans, as well as old artistic graphics. The photos posted on the website show the graphics gathered in the originals, without using any objects that do not belong to the collection.
The intention of creating the website and (from a certain stage) creating the collection is to popularize the history of our country and general history, as well as to present items related to history that have survived to our times, and which have been collected in the form of the presented collection. They are the carrier of the past that shaped the present world, and apart from that - from the aesthetic point of view - the objects are unique and have aesthetic values that can become interesting and constitute the first step for becoming interested in history, learning more, and reaching for literature. This website draws attention to the heritage of our country and society, and encourages reflection.
When thinking about heritage, it should be remembered that the historical heritage for Poland and for Polish society are the values that made our country the greatest importance and power - that is, what distinguished Poland in the 16th century: open society, Polish tolerance (a state without stakes), the multinational character of society and the ability to treat the general good as a superior value. We can be proud of this heritage.
